Modify a Sent Document (Revert to Setup)

Written by Nirmal Fakir

Once a document has been sent for signature, it cannot be edited directly. To make changes, the document must be reverted back to setup. This allows you to update fields, signers, or content before resending, while retaining previously entered information (excluding signatures and initials).

Requirements

• Document must still be in Awaiting Signatures status
• Only document owners/admins can revert to setup

Instructions

  1. Navigate to Documents in your account.

  2. Locate the document you want to update and click View.

  3. Click the Document Admin button (top right).

  4. Select Revert to Setup.

    • This will stop the current signing request and return the document to setup mode.

  5. Make the necessary changes.

    • Update fields, signers, document details, or settings as needed.

  6. Click Request Signatures to resend the document.

Important Notes

  • Reverting to setup interrupts the signing process.

  • All signers will need to sign the document again, even if they had already completed it previously.

  • Previously entered information will be retained, except for signatures and initials.

  • Signers can easily reapply their saved signatures and complete any remaining fields.

Expected Outcome

  • The document is updated with the required changes.

  • All signers receive a new signing request.

  • The signing process restarts with retained data (excluding signatures), ensuring all parties sign the updated version.
