Email Message Formatting (Markup)

Custom email messages use simple formatting (known as markup). This means you can structure your email content using headings, bullet points, numbered lists, bold text, italics, and links.

It helps you create clearer, more structured emails where key information stands out and is easier for recipients to read and follow.


Requirements

  • Ability to customise email messages

  • Available on all plans (certain Enterprise configurations may restrict access)


Instructions

Access Email Message Settings per Document / Template setup:

  1. Open your document or template

  2. Click Document/Template Settings

  3. Select Change Email Message

  4. Add or update content using markup

  5. Click Save

Formatting options Available:

Headings

Heading 1 (one Hash # before heading)

Heading 2 (two Hash ## before heading)

Heading 3 (three Hash ### before heading)


Bullet Points

There must be a blank line between the last sentence and the first bullet point.

Use a hyphen (-) with a space immediately after it for each bullet point.

There must be a blank line between the last bullet point and the next sentence.

Example (Setup):

Please see below for plans available:

- Business Plan

- Enterprise


​Translates to:

Please see below for plans available:

  • Pro Plan

  • Business Plan

  • Enterprise


Text Formatting

Italics: example text (*example text* - one asterisk)

Bold: example text (**example text** - two asterisks)

Bold & Italics: example text (***example text*** - three asterisks)


Hyperlinks

- Place square brackets using your triggering word [here], [apply now] etc.

- Immediately follow with round brackets with actual link thereafter (https://support.quicklysign.com/en/)

Indentation

Place a greater than symbol ">"in front of text

Expected Outcome

Recipients will receive emails with structured formatting including:

  • Bold and highlighted key information

  • Clear headings for readability

  • Clickable links for quick access

  • Well-structured paragraphs and indented content for improved clarity


FAQs

Can I use markup in all email messages?

Yes, as long as email customization is enabled on your account.

Why is formatting not showing for some recipients?

Some email clients may limit rendering of advanced formatting. (HTML restrictions/ emails being screened by security systems)

Can I combine multiple formatting styles?

Yes, you can mix headings, links, bold text, and indentation together.
