CC Recipients & Document Tracking
A CC recipient is an observer in a signing workflow who has no signing obligation - useful for managers, legal teams, compliance officers, or anyone who needs to stay informed.
They can either receive the final signed document once all signatures are complete, or track the document's progress in real time, monitoring who has signed and who is still pending at any stage of the process.
Adding a CC Recipient
- Open a document in setup mode
- Scroll down to the CC Recipients section below the signatories
- Click + CC to add a recipient
- Enter the recipient's name and email address
- Optionally enter a mobile number (if two-factor authentication is enabled)
- Add more recipients as needed
They will not be a part of the signing process

Choose the Access Level
Final Copy Only - The CC recipient receives the completed document once all parties have signed. No visibility into the process while it is in progress. Simply add their details to the Name, Email and Mobile number fields but do not select the “Track Progress” configuration
Track Progress - The CC recipient receives a single email upfront notifying them the document has been sent. Included is a live link they can use at any time to check the current signing status: who has signed and who is still pending. No changes can be made; it is view-only.
⚠️ OTP Note: If the document has signing OTPs enabled, the CC recipient Tracking Progress will also need to enter an OTP each time they access the live link.
What notifications do tracking recipients receive?
| Event | Email sent? |
|---|---|
| Document sent for signatures | Yes |
| Document rejected by a signatory | Yes |
| Document reverted to setup | Yes |
| Document completed (all signed) | Yes (all CC recipients receive this, not just tracking ones) |
Each progress notification email includes:
- The document name and its new status
- Who sent the document
- A list of all signatories
- A link to view signatory progress (except when reverted to setup)
Viewing signatory progress
When a tracking CC recipient clicks the Track Progress link in their email, they are taken to a read-only progress view showing:
- Each signatory's name and email
- Their current signing status
- How many notifications have been sent to them
This view is read-only. CC recipients cannot sign, edit, or modify the document in any way unless they are members of the workspace where the document resides.
Bulk send
When sending documents in bulk, tracking CC recipients are deduplicated automatically. If the same CC email appears on multiple documents within the same bulk send, they will receive only one progress notification per status change (rather than one per document).
Document deletion
If a document in awaiting_signatures status is deleted (moved to trash), tracking CC recipients receive a notification of this. Documents that were already rejected are not reverted. The tracking view is no longer accessible after deletion.
Completed documents
When all signatories have signed, all CC recipients (whether or not Track Progress is enabled) receive an email with a link to view the completed, signed document.
